“When the Water Falls Silent” Premieres, the Center’s Documentary on the Water Crisis
Sala Guillermo del Toro, Cineteca FICG, Zapopan, Jalisco · May 21, 2026
The Hydroadaptive Cities Center at Universidad Panamericana premiered the documentary “When the Water Falls Silent,” directed by Daniel Azpe, with the aim of shedding light on water scarcity, pollution, and the piping-over of rivers in Jalisco, and of driving solutions to strengthen the country’s water resilience.
The premiere was attended by the Rector of Campus Guadalajara, Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade; the Center’s director, Dr. Hugo Briseño Ramírez; the Director of Research, Dr. Daniela Salgado Gutiérrez, as well as representatives of the Jalisco state government, including Prof. Karina Hermosillo, Strategic Coordinator General for Territorial Management. “There is a crisis we are not aware of, which affects us directly every day,” attendees were told during the presentation, which also highlighted that “truly useful science is science that knows how to engage with reality.”
