The Hydroadaptive Cities Center at Universidad Panamericana organized the Citizens’ Congress for Water Quality, bringing together researchers, officials, civil society organizations, students, and citizens from institutions such as UP, Universidad de Guadalajara, Tecnológico de Monterrey, ITESO, and Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara to examine the deterioration of water in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area and propose joint solutions.
The day opened with remarks from the Director of Research, Dr. Daniela Salgado Gutiérrez, and included a lecture by Dr. José Arturo Gleason Espíndola on the structural causes of pollution, a technical panel on treatment and infrastructure solutions, a panel on public-private partnerships, and opportunities for citizen participation. “As universities, we have a commitment to truth, to the common good, to reality, and to humanizing society, present and future,” said Salgado Gutiérrez in her welcoming remarks.
