Sergio Roldán Gutiérrez

Sergio Roldán is a lawyer specializing in Strategic Urban Planning. He holds a master’s degree in Procedural Law. He has been a key figure in Medellín’s transformation. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at universities in Latin America and Europe and has been a keynote speaker at numerous World Urban Forums, including Medellín (2014), Quito-Habitat III (2016), Kuala Lumpur (2018), Abu Dhabi (2020), Poland (2022), and Cairo (2024).
As a consultant on territorial planning and governance in Latin America and the Caribbean, he has held key public positions in Medellín and Antioquia, including Director of the Medellín Higher Education Agency SAPIENCIA, Secretary of Tourism, and Director of International Relations for Antioquia. He is currently a leading investigator at the Universidad de Guadalajara (UdeG), director of the City Science Lab MIT-UdeG and general director of HABITAT LATAM Guadalajara, organized by UN-Habitat and UdeG for Latin America and the Caribbean.
