Héctor A. Barrios Piña, Ph. D.

Dr. Héctor Alfonso Barrios Piña is a civil engineer and full research professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he currently serves as National Director of the Civil Engineering Program and President of the Faculty Classification Committee. He is also currently a Level 1 member of the SNII of SECIHTI. He holds a Ph.D. in Numerical Modeling and Fluid Mechanics from Aix-Marseille Université, France, and has extensive experience in environmental and water resources engineering, numerical modeling of hydrodynamics, and water quality assessment in coastal and inland systems.

His research integrates computational simulations, statistical analysis, and field studies to understand and manage aquatic systems through environmental indicators.

His professional work also includes consultancy projects on hydrodynamic modeling, environmental impact assessment, water supply systems, and coastal infrastructure design for public and private sectors.

Dr. Barrios Piña has received several distinctions, including the Inspiring Professor Award (2025) and Distinguish Professor (2025) at Tecnologico de Monterrey, Best Paper Awards at ICELET 2020 and TECH EDU 2024, and continuous recognition for High Teaching Recommendation (2020–present).
