Dra. Joaquina Niembro García

PhD from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain (Cum Laude), MSc in Sustainable Development from Tecnológico de Monterrey (with Honors), and Chemical Engineer from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (Research Diploma and Academic Merit Medal), recipient of the ANFEI Academic Excellence Award 2005, with a specialization in Anthropology from Universidad Panamericana. She is a Professor at Universidad Panamericana and a candidate in Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNII). Her work focuses on transforming production systems toward responsible, circular, and regenerative models by generating actionable knowledge that reduces socio-environmental impacts in feasible ways.

She employs approaches that combine quantitative rigor with qualitative insight, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to evaluate the environmental performance of products and processes; EvSoS-25, developed within the Pulso Corporativo Sostenible 2025 project, which systematizes what leading companies in Mexico report; and interdisciplinary frameworks integrating ESG criteria, circular economy, and foresight for sustainable development.

She participates in applied research projects and technical standardization processes. She also engages in science communication and is a columnist for El Financiero. Additionally, she contributes to human capital development and collaboration with the productive sector.
