Carlos Ornelas Orozco, M.Sc.

Coordinator of Hidroadaptive Cities Center

Carlos Ornelas Orozco is a Civil Engineer from the Universidad de Guadalajara and holds a Master of Science degree specializing in Environmental Engineering from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo León.

He has more than three decades of experience in the water sector, specializing in planning, design and management of drinking water infrastructure, sanitation and wastewater treatment. He has led numerous hydraulic infrastructure projects, environmental studies and sanitation plans for public and private organizations in Mexico, establishing himself as a consultant on integrated water management issues.

In the academic field, he is a professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of the Universidad Panamericana, Guadalajara campus, where he participates in research, teaching and dissemination on water governance and sustainability, in addition to collaborating as coordinator in the Hydroadaptive Cities Center (HAC).

His career combines professional practice, applied research, and training of new generations of engineers in the field of hydraulic and environmental engineering.

Research areas: Water management and governance, wastewater treatment and sanitation, water supply and purification, urban water and sanitation infrastructure (drinking water, sewerage and drainage) and applied hydrology and basin management.
